This low pressure horsemanship program is open, free of charge, to any & all veterans. The men and women in our military work hard to assure us that this country remains a safe place to live. Some soldiers returning home from overseas have physical wounds and psychological issues that require ongoing therapy. Shining Stars wants to offer some amazing opportunities to our vets!

Therapeutic horsemanship is a great means to promote physical and mental healing. Veteran participants will learn about “horse stuff” including grooming, handling, interacting, and basic riding & driving. The program goals work on building core muscles, increasing self confidence, practicing relaxation, strengthening faith & trust, and enjoying recreation. But Stars & Stripes is not just for wounded or recovering military. Anyone who has served or is serving is welcome to join us!

Leading as Program Director will be volunteer, Vincent Umstot, himself a U.S. Army Veteran of 6 years, with the rank of Sgt. E-5. Vincent has high hopes for sharing his horsemanship skills to help others. In his own words: ” I am looking forward to helping vets through the Stars & Stripes equine therapy program. Witnessing God’s healing through His powerful creation of the horse is a blessing to behold.”

If you are a veteran who is interested in checking out this program, please give us a call. Or just come—no pre-registration is necessary! For further information on the Stars & Stripes program contact Brandy Crago at 717-398-8327.
